Impromptu Photo Opps….

On one note,

Pinterest is evil.  It does not help me on the "Thou shalt not covet" command.

Just kidding.

sort of.

Yet, it does offer some great inspiration, especially in organizing….hence my continual returns, although I do find myself pinning lots of other fun stuff.

Just thought I'd share the excitement.

On another note,

After I read this a while back from another blog (The Anderson Crew via Under the Sycamore):

"do you have pictures of yourself, with your little people?
in this day and age of the "momarazzi", many of us are always behind the lens...rather in front of it.
some of you feel much more comfy behind the lens, and i get that.
look, you think i want pictures of myself in the same velour jogging suit for the 3rd day in a row {i slept in that jogging suit each night too---i know, gross, right?}
well, i don't really want those pictures...but my kids do---or, at least they will one day.
how many of you LOVE looking at pictures of your parents, when they were young{er}?
i'm raising my hand!
sadly, i don't have a lot of pictures with me and my mom from when i was younger.
i am off to change this for my kids.
i want them to have an abundance of pictures...to remind them of these days that we spent at home together.
the days may seem to drag...but honestly, the years fly.
is my son really about to graduate...from kindergarten?
wasn't it yesterday that i was wiping his diapered bottom?  and now i am wiping his pee up from all around the toilet. embrace the pee.
and embrace the camera.

get out your self-timer camera.
give your $1,000 camera to your 3 year old {yikes!} to capture the shot.
hit the button and run and jump into the photo.
hold the camera out in front of you and your munchkin.
take a shot in the mirror.
whatever you need to do, to capture yourself with the little people.

if you are thinking "no thanks...i don't want my crusty self in the photograph, thankyouverymuch" then you are going to get a swift kick in the shins for that.  {and trust my bruised shins...that hurts}
do you honestly look at a picture of your mom from back in the day and think "man, she was {insert your horrible adjective that you use to describe yourself}"
we don't think that.
and neither do your kids!
so, pick up the camera and get shooting."

Well…….I got a-shootin!
We set out for an impromptu photo opp one night before church.  It seriously lasted less than 20 minutes.  Nevertheless, I have begun!

Matt obviously shot most of these.  We found a good setting on the camera with the evening light (my fave), but then it looks different each time we switched angles….
so good photography lessons with the practice.
As you can see, he was all over the place with his crazy angles….but I like his creativity!

It started with a book and we were going to sit around and read some.

{If only every day of our lives and memories were this quiet, serene and lovely}

{backlighting: good angles….read more about that here and here on The Pioneer Woman.}

But, we got a little distracted and rushed, too….

so we just played around some...

I wanted some of me and Cole, too…..

I guess he was about 2 months old here….
{lovely expression of course….but I could still eat him up!!!!}

Ooooh, I love this close-up of his soft fat baby skin…notice his little dimples? :)
It looks like I'm ready to devour him or something.

Not my favorite angle of myself, but I love Adolyn's face….
{and again, it's not about me…it's about pictures that show the memories!}

Hilarious of Anna Jaymes, and definitely NOT a framer….
this is her "cheese" for the camera face and supposedly a smile….

a little better :) ha…..

a somewhat real smile from a different day….

just a random one of Anna Jaymes loving on her baby brother...

The girls also had a photo opp with my mom the day after Adolyn's birthday party.
Man, I am so late posting these…..again!  :)

  1. Beautiful photos, beautiful family, beautiful mama! Great job, Chrystal! What sweet moments with your little man. They do grow too fast. You inspired me, I think a book may hold my boys attention. Usually they run away from camera. I need to try it.

  2. There are two photos in this group that show you lying down (the 2 in which we can see your face) and the kids all around . . . the BEST! I also like the two pics that are from the back - but remember, the kids are going to want to see your face in years to come. I thought there were too many in this group without your full, BEAUTIFUL face in view. All your pictures are definitely a joy to look at!

  3. Beautiful pictures!! And Mrs. Bev is still as pretty as ever!!
